Ptolemy II Philadelphos, 285 – 246. In the name of Arsinoe II. Octodrachm, Salamis circa 261-253, AV 27.75 g. Veiled and diademed head of Arsinoe II r. Rev. ΑΡΣΙΝΟΗΣ – ΦΙΛΑΔΕΛΦΟΥ Double cornucopiae filled with fruit and bound with fillet; below, ΣΑ. Svoronos cf. 521 and pl. XV, 3 (different style). Troxell Arsinoe p. 63, 11. Leu sale 18, 1977, 274.
Of the highest rarity, apparently only the second specimen known of this variety.
Traces of mounting, otherwise good very fine
