RUSSIA. Trio of Historical Medals Struck in White Metal, 18th Century.
3 pieces in lot. Each a part of the Historical Medal series produced during the reign of Catherine II in the 18th century, but honoring events much earlier in Russian history. Lot includes: Diakov-1702, noting a treaty with the Greeks in AD 912; Diakov-1708 var. on the birth of Svyatoslav in 920 AD; and Diakov-1713 var. citing Greece rendering tribute in 944 AD. Of note is that all three feature the same obverse portrait of Oleg, who died in 912 AD. According to Diakov, only the first of these three medals should have that portrait - the latter two normally show his successor Igor. Diakov notes in his introduction to the series that he has knowledge of mismatched obverses and reverses for some of the medals. All are graded and certified by NGC in Details holders. SOLD AS IS/NO RETURNS. NGC UNC Details -- Rim Damage (1) & Bent (2).

Estimate: $200.00- $300.00
