Danubian limes. Cast lead mystic plaque. Dacia and Moesia, 3rd-4th century AD. Obv. Figural design in several scenes within circular garlanded frame ending on top with seven stars (Septem Triones) and dolphin. In the upper row, Helen standing facing between busts of Helios and Selene; behind busts to left, tripod; to right, hen. In the middle row, standing figure between the Dioscuri on horseback (the Danubian Horsemen); to left, hen; to right, figure with zoomorphic mask. In the lower row, sacrifical scene; to left, vase; to right, lion. Rev. Plain. PB. mm. 74.00 An outstanding example, exceptionally well preserved. Magnificent green-grey patina. EF.
