1787 Fugio Cent, STATES UNITED, 1/Horizontal 1 AU50 PCGS. CAC. Newman 10-T, R.5. The 1 over Horizontal 1 obverse is an important and integral part of any Fugio cent collection, carrying its own listing in the Guide Book. A late die state with heavy obverse clash marks and a strong reverse crack from the border at 7 o'clock across the ring to the label at the first S. Pleasing dark brown and steel surfaces, the obverse and center of the reverse are sharp, the peripheral reverse weaker, as usual for the variety. Superior quality to John Ford's, lot 262 in Part I of the Stack's sales devoted to the Ford Collection. Listed on page 89 of the 2018 Guide Book.
