Proof Indian Cents
1864 1C Copper Nickel PR66 Cameo PCGS. The 1864 has the lowest mintage in the proof copper-nickel series with only 370 pieces struck. Most examples are not as well-preserved as this piece or the typical type coin for the series, the 1862. This proof displays deeply reflective fields that establish a "black" background for the mint frost that covers the devices. The obverse still retains much of the whiteness of the copper-nickel alloy, while the reverse is uniformly reddish toned.
