From a series-low, first-year mintage of 484,000 pieces, the 1909-S VDB is the sought-after key to the Lincoln cent series and examples are prized by collectors in all grades and conditions. This spectacular Plus-Graded Premium Gem exhibits razor-sharp definition on all design elements and the all-important designer's initials are boldly visible on the reverse. The original red surfaces display softly glowing satiny mint luster on both sides, with a few microscopic carbon spots visible through a loupe. Overall eye appeal is terrific. PCGS has graded only 15 numerically finer examples (4/17).
