Early Half Dimes
1800 H10C V-1, LM-1, R.3, AU55 NGC. A long rim cud beneath the 00 in the date denotes a late state of the dies, while pleasing silver-gray surfaces show relatively few marks and the devices are sharply defined. We note die clashing in the date area and a die crack from the rim to the shoulder tangent to the first 0 in the date. Bluish-gray and amber-gold accents gather at the borders and intersperse across the fields for a faint dappling of color. The Choice surfaces are smoothly lustrous and well-preserved. LM-1 is a good selection for the Draped Bust type -- relatively available, here with nice eye appeal. Census (all varieties): 12 in 55, 48 finer (4/17).
