Bust Dimes
1814 10C Small Date, JR-1, R.3, MS64 NGC. John Reich's Capped Bust design appeared in 1809, 1811, 1814, and 1820, continuing without intermission through 1825, and again from 1827 to 1837. Mint records suggest that 421,500 dimes were produced in 1814, and the survival quantity suggests that all of those pieces were actually dated 1814. This Choice Mint State piece has brilliant and satiny silver luster with gold, blue, and iridescent toning. Census for all 1814 dime varieties: 46 in 64, 40 finer (5/17).
