Mercury Dimes
1942/1 10C FS-101 MS66+ PCGS. CAC. The 1942/1 Mercury dime is the most avidly sought-after variety of the series. The overdate was noted almost immediately after the coins were released and the variety became immensely popular because of the dramatic "naked eye" visibility of the overdate, a feature every collector notices when examining a coin. The fame of the variety was established by its early inclusion in the Guide Book, and its prestige and value have increased steadily over the years.
The present coin is a remarkable Premium Gem, with well-detailed design elements and vibrant mint luster throughout. The impeccably preserved surfaces show traces of sea-green and amber toning and overall eye appeal is outstanding. Population: 7 in 66 (2 in 66+), 0 finer. CAC: 3 in 66, 0 finer (4/17).
