Seated Quarters
1879 25C MS68 NGC. Briggs 1-A. A Condition Census 1879 quarter dollar, this high-end Superb Gem displays near-brilliant luster and semiprooflike fields. The strike is sharp throughout the stars and central devices. With Mint resources largely devoted to striking large quantities of new silver dollars, small denomination silver production declined in 1879. The quarter dollar of this year boasts a mintage of only 13,600 pieces. The low mintage was recognized early, and today the date is collectible in Uncirculated condition. However, rarely is a piece encountered in the topmost grade of MS68. Census: 7 in 68 (2 in 68 ★), 0 finer (4/17).
