Bust Half Dollars
1808 50C O-103, R.1, MS63 NGC. A relatively plentiful variety in circulated grades, identified by the joined letters AM in AMERICA. In Select Uncirculated condition, of course, the issue is significantly less accessible. This is an attractively lustrous, gold-tinged example from a later die state, which shows clashes and some die erosion, as well as the beginnings of cracks through the reverse lettering. Census (all 1808 varieties): 13 in 63, 26 finer (4/17).
Ex: ANA Signature (Heritage, 3/2011), lot 4421.
