Bust Half Dollars
1814/3 50C O-101a, R.2, MS62 PCGS. Nearly all examples of the this overdated variety come from a late state of the dies, designated O-101a in the Overton reference. This example displays a long crack through the left-side stars, across the cap, and down through the right-hand stars. An additional, heavy crack runs beneath the date. Both sides exhibit multiple die clashing. Attractive steel-blue toning at the lower-left quadrant merges with lustrous, silver-gray shades with olive-gold highlights. Population (with overdate): 7 in 62, 8 finer (4/17).
