Seated Half Dollars
1868 50C WB-101 MS65 PCGS. This gleaming Gem example is mostly prooflike in the fields and needle-sharp on the frosted devices. Gunmetal-blue toning cedes to sea-green and tan-gold shades on the obverse, while the reverse is richly toned in dappled shades of orange-gold, lilac, and blue. Curiously, the date was punched far too high and slants downward left to right. PCGS reports just two numerically finer examples, while NGC shows just one finer coin. PCGS population: 6 in 65, 2 finer (4/17).
