Barber Half Dollars
1902-O 50C MS64+ PCGS. CAC. Originality and eye appeal are the defining attributes of this Choice O-mint Barber half dollar. The 1902-O is a well-known strike rarity, and David Lawrence (1991) notes: "Well struck coins are worth a premium ..." Liberty's forecurl shows excellent definition, as do stars 1 through 10. Only the eagle's head and the right (facing) talons and wing junction display incompleteness, while the remaining reverse motifs are crisply rendered. Multicolor toning is more prominent on the reverse, but the underlying luster is radiant throughout. Population: 18 in 64 (1 in 64+), 8 finer. CAC: 6 in 64, 1 finer (4/17).
