Early Dollars
1798 $1 Large Eagle, Pointed 9, B-24, BB-124, R.2, AU53 PCGS. Bowers Die State II. The reverse shows slight evidence of lapping. This is an outstanding example of the third major design type among the early dollars. The Flowing Hair type was struck in 1794 and 1795, the Draped Bust, Small Eagle type was coined from 1795 to 1798, and the Draped Bust, Heraldic Eagle design was current from 1798 through 1803. This light silver-gray example has satin luster with delicate gold and faint blue toning.
