Morgan Dollars
1879-CC $1 MS65 PCGS. Normal Mintmark. The scarcity of the 1879-CC Morgan dollar in Gem condition makes it the second-most elusive issue in the Carson City short set. Gems are scarcer at auction than even the minimal certified population would suggest, and higher-grade pieces are almost uncollectible. In fact, since 1993, we have handled only a single coin finer than the present PCGS-graded Gem.
Carson City specialists will appreciate the traditional frosty, brilliant luster that radiates dramatic cartwheel luster. There are a few minor grazes on Liberty's cheek but none that warrant individual mention. The originality of the surfaces is highly appealing. PCGS reports three MS66 coins finer (4/17).
