Three Dollar Gold Pieces
1860-S $3 AU50 PCGS. Not counting the unique and uncollectible 1870-S, the 1860-S is one of only four three dollar gold issues struck at the San Francisco Mint. Token quantities of this denomination were also produced in New Orleans and Dahlonega in 1854, but the bulk of the series was struck at Philadelphia. This About Uncirculated 1860-S is well-detailed with relatively smooth surfaces and medium wheat-gold color. Hints of luster remain in the protected regions of the fields. Population: 14 in 50, 35 finer (4/17).
