Liberty Double Eagles
1882-CC $20 AU58 PCGS. Variety 1-B. A satiny surfaced, butter-gold Borderline Uncirculated double eagle from the legendary Carson City Mint. The surfaces are sharply defined with just the slightest bit of high-point friction evident. Each side exhibits interesting clash marks and the surfaces are only lightly abraded given its brief stint in western commerce. The usual die variety for the issue with a die line in front of Liberty's eye and a left-leaning mintmark. The 1882-CC has a notably low mintage of only 39,140 pieces. Examples finer than the present piece are seldom encountered.
