1808 50C O-106, R.2 -- Mint Error, Struck Off-Center -- Fine 12 NGC. Off-center strikes on Bust halves -- particularly the early issues -- have strong appeal to both series collectors and error specialists. This 1808 Capped Bust half is struck approximately 5% off-center to the southwest, with parts of star 1, the bust tip, and 18 in the date off the flan from the obverse, and upper portions of the reverse legend as well. Enough of the motifs remain to confirm the O-106 variety. Stone-gray surfaces display faint gold overtones.
