1870 25C Standard Silver Quarter Dollar, Judd-878, Pollock-975, R.7, PR62 Red and Brown PCGS. William Barber's Seated Liberty design with a Liberty Pole behind with a Phrygian cap atop and 13 stars around the margin. The reverse has 25 CENTS in the center and is surrounded by a thick agricultural wreath with STANDARD in small letters at the top. Struck in copper with a reeded edge. Struck in silver, copper, and aluminum -- each metal produced in reeded edge and plain edge formats. Only a dozen or so examples are believed known in copper and with a reeded edge. Each side of this piece was vigorously cleaned and an oval-shaped dark stain of unknown origin is located in the center of the reverse.
