1872 H10C Half Dime, Judd-1191, Pollock-1331, R.7, PR65 Red PCGS. Dies trial piece of the 1872 half dime. Struck in copper with a reeded edge. Examples were struck in copper and aluminum. Both compositions are rare. Fewer than four copper impressions are believed known and fewer than three in aluminum, according to USPatterns.com. The mint red luster shows very little variation in hue on either side. It is especially noteworthy that the reverse is several shades brighter even than the obverse. A remarkably preserved copper pattern. Sharply defined.
