1874 G$1 MS67 PCGS. While the 1874 is readily available as an issue from the large mintage of 198,800 pieces, Superb Gem examples are rare. Prooflike examples are also rare (as are the true proofs). The Bowers reference gives a brief comment in the Auction Information section: "A small percentage of listings note a prooflike surface." The fields of this example are blatantly prooflike on both sides. Variegated toning ranges from deep-orange to lemon-yellow, with frosted raised motifs and a razor-sharp strike. Population: 36 in 67 (2 in 67+), 2 finer (4/17).
