1852-O $2 1/2 AU58 PCGS. CAC. Variety Unlisted The obverse is a match for Variety 2, but the reverse does not correspond to either of the two known dies used to strike 1852-O quarter eagles. The mintmark shape and placement resemble the reverse die used for the 1851-O. Certainly, this is a rare and previously unknown variety that should be of interest to specialists. This original, honey-gold quarter remains lustrous and eye-appealing. The obverse is needle-sharp, while the reverse is more in line with the facility. Population: 30 in 58, 18 finer. CAC: 14 in 58, 8 finer (4/17).
