Liberty Quarter Eagles
1862 $2 1/2 AU58 PCGS. This impressive near-Mint quarter eagle has undesignated prooflike reflectivity and contrast, subdued slightly by scattered marks in the fields. The design elements are fully brought-up. Two and a half dollar gold coinage at the Philadelphia Mint amounted to 98,508 pieces in 1862, the same year specie payments were suspended. Population: 26 in 58 (1 in 58+), 38 finer (4/17).
