Liberty Eagles
1845-O $10 Repunched Date AU53 NGC. Variety 2. The date is centered high and left with bold repunching on 84. The mintmark is over EN in TEN. Of the 47,500 ten dollar gold pieces struck at the New Orleans branch mint in 1845, Doug Winter estimates 175 to 225 examples survive, only 22 to 27 of which can be found across all AU grades. The central motifs are razor-sharp, softening slightly around the rims. An attractive orange-gold example with semiprooflike fields.
