Liberty Double Eagles
1888 $20 MS62 PCGS. The 1888 is a scarcer date even though more than a quarter million pieces were struck, primarily because so many were shipped to Europe for international payments. It is not particularly rare in abraded MS60 to MS61 grades, but relatively unmarked pieces are infrequently found. Distributed tiny russet alloy flecks do not affect the technical grade. PCGS has graded 33 numerically finer examples (4/17).
