Michael VIII Palaeologus. 1261-1282. Æ Trachy (27mm, 2.35 g, 12h). Constantinople mint. St. Demetrius standing facing, holding spear and shield / Michael standing facing, holding labarum and akakia, being crowned and blessed by the Virgin Mary. DOC 66-9; PCPC 26; SB 2265. Near VF, dark green to black patina, muddled and poorly struck obverse die, edge splits.
