Roman Judaea, 3rd-5th Century AD., Colorful Bale-Handled Balsamarium. Light green glass for the body and handle, with the decorative trailing threads around in purplish aubergine colored glass. Three discreet repairs to the bale, plus a small section of the side handle is missing. Overall preservation is choice with variegated iridescence ranging from matte and transparent to opaque silver with areas flashing of vivid violets and cobalts. An eye catching object of antiquity.
