Great Britain. Halfpenny, 1717. S.3659; KM-549. George I. Obverse; Laureate draped bust of king right. GEORGIVS. REX. Reverse; Britannia seated holding long spear and spray of leaves. Brilliant mint state with frosted cameo design and proof-like background. Produced in the first year of the king's copper coinage, this has the appearance of a special or experimental striking, it is struck on a slightly larger than normal flan/planchet and is remarkable for the unusual number of die flaws and cracks evident on the reverse of the coin.
