Herennia Etruscilla. Tetradrachm; Herennia Etruscilla; Antiochia ad Orontem, Seleucis and Pieria, c. 250/1 AD, Tetradrachm, 11.70g. McAlee-1165c (Rare), Prieur-610 (12 spec.), RPC-1650 (11 spec.). Obv: EPENNIA ETPOVCKI??A CEB Draped bust r. wearing stephane, later ridged hairdo, probably [three pellets] (officina 3) below bust. Rx: ?HMAPX E? - OYCIAC around, S C in exergue, Eagle with spread wings standing l. on palm branch, holding wreath in beak. Probably with three pellets off flan below the bust, since from the same obverse die as McAlee's illustrated specimen, though the pellets on that specimen too are not clear in the photo. Purchased from Joel Malter, 25 November 1966. As McAlee comments (p. 374), Herennia Etruscilla's Antioch tetradrachms are all rare: only 29 specimens of all varieties in the Dura excavations, compared to 483 of Trajan Decius and 194 of Herennius Etruscus. This coin comes from the Etruscilla's second issue of tetradrachms at Antioch, with name corrected to "Etruscilla", but with the eagle still standing on palm branch rather than just line.
