Obv: A K G M K ?EKI - OC TPAIANOC E Bust laureate, draped, cuirassed r. Rx: Nike advancing r. holding wreath and palm around which drapery is wrapped, date L - A across field. Ex Fountainhead of Fine Coins List 8, January 1977, no. 1058. This coin shows the rare, probably earliest form of obverse legend with ?EKIOC preceding rather than following TPAIANOC. Of 55 tetradrachms of Decius in Dattari/Savio, only seven show this legend; of 44 tetradrachms in Oxford, three show the variant legend. There are no coins with this legend among the 19 tetradrachms of Decius in BMC, nor among the 13 tetradrachms of Decius in the Cologne collection.
