Postumus, Romano-Gallic Emperor, 260-269. Antoninianus (Silvered bronze, 19-22 mm, 3.36 g, 12 h), Cologne, early 269. IMP C POSTVMVS P F AVG Radiate, draped and cuirassed bust of Postumus to right. Rev. P M TR P X COS V P P Postumus, togate, standing front, head left, holding branch in right hand and scepter in left. AGK (corr.) 67. Cunetio 2470. Elmer 596. Very rare and interesting. An excellent example with superb surfaces. The reverse struck from a somewhat worn die, otherwise, extremely fine.
From the Imperium Galliarum Collection, formed over the past 20 years.
This is the last type issued for Postumus: it celebrates the accession of his 5th consulship, but the rarity of the issue indicates that he was killed by his revolting troops soon thereafter.
