Cantii, uninscribed coinage (c. 50-25BC), silver Unit, 0.93g, profile heads facing, annulet ornaments between, rev. horse left, horns above (VA -; ABC 216; S. -), minor loss of flan, otherwise good very fine, very rare
provenance. Bt. Rudd, 7 July 2008. Found Kent. Recorded with the Ashmolean Museum, Oxford, ref. CCI 08.9172. . This specimen is of particular numismatic interest being the first known example of its type to exhibit the full iconography displayed above the horse. Instead of depicting the full head of a bucranium, the design is confirmed as a more simplistic pair of bull's horns with annulet tips
Estimate: £400.00 - £600.00
