Roman. Late 4th century A.D. Gold foil impression. 24 x 22 mm, 1.47 g. A roughly square-shaped gold foil impression with two tiny divots at the top where at had been attached as decoration on an article of clothing or jewelry. It shows the emperor standing to the front, looking right, and holding a spear and a small figure of Victory on a globe. Victory is turned towards the emperor crowning him with a wreath. The whole is contained within a circular legend reading, we believe, VICTORIA ROMANORVM, although the latter word is not certain. The details are not sharp but they are distinct.
