LEVANTINE REGION, Uncertain. 3rd century BC. (Bronze, 16 mm, 3.32 g, 2 h), Ram running to left, head reverted to right. Rev. Scales; three pellets in central field. Butcher, p. 405, 11. Weiser 1 (under Nektanebo II). Attractive dark patina. Reverse slightly off center, otherwise, very fine.
Due to type similarities to the gold issues of Nektanebo II, this series of coins were attributed until recently to his reigh. Although even now this attribution is still followed be some, it seems that it is incorrect as most of the examples come out outside the margins of the Egyptian kingdom and mainly from the northern Levantine area.
