THESSALY, Thessalian League. Circa 196-27 BC. Stater (Silver, 23 mm, 6.10 g, 12 h), Nyssandres and Pherekrates, magistrates, struck circa late 2nd to mid 1st Century BC. Laureate head of Zeus to right. Rev. ΘEΣΣA/ΛΩN / NYΣΣANΔP[OY] / ΦEPEK[PATHΣ] Athena Itonia striding right, hurling spear with her right hand and extending shield in her left. BCD II 868.4. Sharp, well struck example with beautiful details. Minor striking flatness on reverse, otherwise, extremely fine.
