Lincoln Cents
1912 1C MS67 Red PCGS. Ex: Jack Lee. An impeccable sunset-orange representative that is boldly defined and has miraculously escaped virtually all signs of contact and carbon. We have never seen a nicer 1912 Lincoln cent and both NGC and PCGS concur. Dave Bowers reports in A Guide Book of Lincoln Cents: "Mint State pieces are scarce, and gems with full original color and without carbon spots or flecks are extremely rare." At one time, this date was considered the biggest sleeper of any Lincoln cent in Gem condition. Population: 11 in 67 Red, 0 finer (5/17).
Ex: The William Bickel Collection, Part One (Heritage, 7/2005), lot 10104; Jack Lee Estate Lincoln Cent Registry Set / Houston Signature (Heritage, 12/2008), lot 147, where it brought $18,400.
