Early Quarters
1806 25C B-9, R.1, MS63 PCGS. Gold CAC. A substantial mintage of 206,124 Draped Bust quarters was accomplished in 1806, with 10 die varieties known for the date. This coin represents the most available variety, B-9, with a bisecting die crack from the rim through the 1 in the date, through the hair and the E in LIBERTY. This attractive Select specimen offers well-detailed design elements, with a touch of softness on the central obverse and some faint planchet adjustment marks on the corresponding area on the reverse. Dramatic clash marks are evident on both sides and the lightly abraded surfaces retain traces of original mint luster, under shades of lavender-gray and pale gold toning. The technical quality and eye appeal are quite high for the grade, as attested by the Gold CAC sticker. Housed in an old green label holder. Population: 8 in 63, 14 finer (6/17).
