1877 50C PR66+ PCGS. Deeply mirrored fields retain their glassy reflectivity despite rich iridescent border toning that displays shades of aquamarine and tan-gold. The centers are brilliant and the central devices are smoothly frosted for strong contrast with the surrounding mirrors. A needle-sharp strike is fully impressed throughout both sides. The PCGS Plus designation is significant, since there are no numerically finer 1877 proofs at either service, and the present coin is the sole Plus-graded example. Population: 5 in 66 (1 in 66+), 0 finer (5/17).
