1798 $1 Large Eagle, Pointed 9, Wide Date, B-15, BB-112, R.3, AU53 PCGS. This impressive AU53 specimen shows little loss of detail in the highest curl or star 13, indicating it was not relapped, but it does show the die crack from the left shield point to the ribbon that characterizes Bowers Die State III. Some planchet adjustment marks are evident on the bust, causing some minor softness on the centers, but the lightly abraded surfaces retain traces of original mint luster, under pleasing shades of lavender-gray and golden-tan toning.
