1799 $1 7x6 Stars, B-11, BB-161, R.3, AU50 NGC. Bowers Die State III, the latest recorded die state, and also the most often encountered die state, with heavy clash marks over the date, and extensive reverse die cracks. Two die varieties, B-11 and B-12, share the reverse die that lacks berries, and this die was previously used (with berries) for B-16 and B-23, the latter with the unusual 8x5 Stars arrangement of the obverse. This piece has tan on the highest points of the devices, with deep steel-blue elsewhere. A splendid example with trivial marks that most catalogers wouldn't bother to mention.
