Gold Dollars
1854 G$1 Type Two MS63 PCGS. The small Indian Head design appeared on the gold dollar for a brief period of time in the middle 1850s, from 1854 to 1856. The design was ill-suited for coinage as the highest relief on the obverse was opposite the date on the reverse, meaning that portions of the date are almost always weakly impressed. This Select Mint State piece is a lovely example with frosty mint luster and brilliant yellow surfaces. Light clash marks are evident but they are much lighter than usual. Minor grade-consistent hairlines are noted on both sides.
