Commemorative Silver
1921 50C Missouri MS66+ PCGS. The Missouri half dollar, designed by Robert Aitken, was intended to commemorate the 100th anniversary of Missouri's admission to the Union. Approximately 11,400 examples of the issue were struck with the basic design (as here), and another 9,000 coins were produced with an added 2★4 notation in the field. The basic issue is very scarce at the MS66 grade level, and finer coins are virtually unobtainable.
The present coin is a Plus-graded Premium Gem, with well-detailed design elements and vibrant, satiny mint luster. The impeccably preserved surfaces show highlights of greenish-gold, amber, and lavender-gray toning. Overall eye appeal is outstanding. Population: 50 in 66, 2 in 66+, 0 finer (5/17).
