Proof Lincoln Cents
1916 1C PR65 Brown NGC. Although the 1909 VDB cent is the key date of the matte proof series, the 1916 has a lower mintage. Available records state that just 1,050 proofs were struck. The present fully struck Gem displays the dramatic toning characteristic of proof cents of the era. Ruby-red and jade-green alternate across both sides. Devoid of detectable carbon or contact. Census: 9 in 65 Brown, 5 finer (5/17).
Ex: FUN Signature (Heritage, 1/2011), lot 4308.
