Proof Three Cent Nickels
1869 3CN PR66 Cameo PCGS. CAC. The earlier three cent nickel proofs had impressively low mintages. In this case, only 600 pieces are estimated to have been struck. This is a brightly mirrored example with sharply contrasted, frosted devices. Pale rose patina is seen over each side. Curiously, the left column of the Roman numeral III is weakly defined, a feature usually only seen on business strikes. Population: 21 in 66 (1 in 66+) Cameo, 7 finer. CAC: 17 in 66, 4 finer (5/17).
