Early Half Dollars
1794 50C O-104, T-11, R.5 -- Tooled, Whizzed -- NCS Details. VG. The light silver gray surfaces exhibit signs of tooling on this scarce Overton variety from the first year of our nation's silver coinage. Although NCS describes this piece as whizzed, the surfaces have a sweated appearance such as that sometimes seen on gold coins. Delicate peripheral brown toning frames the light silver surfaces.
