Reeded Edge Half Dollars
1837 50C GR-20, R.3, MS64 NGC. The diagnostics that attribute the GR-20 variety are faint due to die fatigue and the influence of olive-gold toning on each side, but the die state is still in the early, uncracked state. The strike is particularly sharp, and soft luster illuminates the fields. There are no distinctive abrasions, and only some light dulling on Liberty's cheek appears to limit the grade. Finer 1837 Reeded Edge halves are scarce.
