1885-O $1 MS67+ ★ NGC. CAC. VAM-2, Doubled 5. A dramatic crescent of broadband rainbow colors distinguish this highly decorated Superb Gem 1885-O. One of just two examples to earn both the NGC Plus and Star designations at the assigned grade, it also displays CAC endorsement in addition to the VAM-2 variety with the 5 in the date doubled across the top. Teal-green, fuscia-pink, lemon-yellow, and aquamarine shades deepen to plum and amber-gold shades covering all but the lower-left quadrant of the obverse, where brilliant and frosted silver surface survives. The reverse is mostly brilliant with orange-gold shades at the margin. Sharply struck and one-of-a-kind among 1885-O dollars. Census: 2 in 67+★, 11 finer. CAC: 161 in 67, 1 finer (5/17).
