Only a trace of almond-gold toning appears intermittently along the rims; otherwise, this glossy proof is starkly untoned with mirrorlike silver surfaces unlike proofs from any other year. Researcher Mike Fuljenz describes the look as being "chromed." The strike is sharp for a 1902 proof with just a few delicate lines and tiny marks visible under a glass.
