Liberty Quarter Eagles
1851-C $2 1/2 AU55 PCGS. Variety 1. A single die pair was needed to strike 14,923 quarter eagles at the North Carolina branch mint in 1851. This issue is slightly more accessible than the 1851-D, but it is far rarer than the 1851-P or 1851-O. The fields exhibit moderate reflectivity, and the devices are bold for the facility. Softness is confined to the eagle's left leg and right claw. Population: 6 in 55, 9 finer (5/17).
